Tonight Councilman White took to his airway of Facebook Live and began to criticizing members of the MPD for what he described was holding people for more than two hours. In my opinion, without knowing the facts it is highly inappropriate for a Councilman voted by its residents to incite or inflame the situation by broadcasting live on Facebook criticizing the police officers investigating and at times even carrying on a conversation with one of those who were apparently being held while police.

Then let’s talk about how he treated one of his constituents whom he has never spoke to or even knows.  While broadcasting I let the Councilman know I was a Ward 8 member who was concerned about his actions at the time.  I began to criticize and caution him on what he was doing saying, "Council Member, I am a Ward 8 resident I'd caution you on how appropriate it is to throw your Police Dept under the bus WHILE THEY DO THEIR JOB.  Your undermining their work and without you knowing the details your actions are very unfair.  There are procedures that help prevent the situation from getting more heated that provide for residents the opportunity to address concerns but for you to go live from a scene of a potential crime is very unprofessional.  Trying to make enemies between MPD and its citizens live on Facebook is not the way we're going to fix this situation be a responsible person and let them do their work.  Get informed about the situation and then address it as you should not live on Facebook.  Come on Now"

I continued watching when I heard him say my full name "Tom Donohue" I didn't hear anything he may have said before or after however shortly after him saying my name the broadcast was interrupted,  I posted the feed onto a Ward 8 Facebook forum and noticed no one could see the broadcast. I began to search for the Councilman’s page I was friends with him on and could no longer find it.  I was shocked to find that due to my criticizing or advising him he immaturely blocked me one of his own residents he is supposed to represent.  Shame on him.

I have no knowledge about the matter being investigated I was intrigued as to what was happening.  I am completely against anyone violating anyone constitutional rights - in fact the Councilman had every right to do what he was doing, HOWEVER, I was advising him that what he was doing was not only putting his and other lives at risk it was in my opinion inappropriate for a LIVE Facebook post.   Let’s not forget Councilmember White did not know what was going on he was only acting (from what I can tell) on what he saw and had no details of the facts of what was happening.  In my opinion and as a resident if Ward 8 and someone who is represented by Councilmember White I'm concerned.  I'm concerned that he does not want to be heard from his constituents and only wants to represent those who side with him.  I am an unknown, I follow from a far, I have never spoken to or know the Councilman.  I have attempted to reach out to get more involved however got no response. So my thoughts here are unbiased and before today had no real opinion of him other than seeing him in a truck delivering gifts to kids I think it was Christmas and thought I had never seen that approach before.  Today, my opinion of him is concerning that he does not have the skill to know how to appropriately work with others like the MPD or listen to his constituents like me he'd rather block them and not hear from them.
 
The police activity at hand when the Councilman was live is concerning and should not be overlooked if peoples rights were being violated – a statement Council White man however to me is unclear by what I saw on the video.
